The University of Canterbury Maths & Science Basement in Christchurch NZ was MARKHAM’s first basement remedial (and first basement waterproofing!) project, following a tanking failure due to ground movement, where two pumps were running continuously to pump the water out.

Back in 1997, MARKHAM’s founder Graham Smith recommended and installed AQURON 2000 to this leaking basement, to provide a dry result.

It was a lightbulb moment to him, that this treatment which is typically used for curing and sealing slabs could also be used for locking up the moisture to waterproof basement concrete.

Moisture-sensitive flooring was installed following the treatment and remains intact to this day.
