Sub-grade (basement) waterproofing has become a serious issue in the Australasian construction industry. What is needed is simple - no leaks.
MARKHAM offers a project-specific approach, guided by BS8102:2022, from the design stage through to construction completion.
Our advanced multi-part system can be adapted for protecting concrete across critical areas: basements, foundations, retaining walls, podium slabs, and roof decks.
MARKHAM takes a project-specific approach to structural waterprooing. We recommend the advice of CSSW consultants at an early stage. Elements may include bonded membrane, waterproofing admixture, spray-applied treatment, and delayed-swell waterstop gaskets.
BS8012:2022 provides for various protection Types, which in turn can be used in combination.
MARKHAM provides the BASE-TECT® multi-part system for basement waterproofing. Elements are selected on a project-specific basis and may include bonded membrane, waterproofing admixture, spray-applied treatment, and delayed-swell waterstop gaskets. This system can be adapted for Type A or Type B waterproofing after the guidelines of BS8102:2022.
TYPE A barrier protection incorporates a bonded membrane. The BASE-TECT® TYPE A includes CONQOR MAXIPRUFE PLUS self-healing membrane, CONQOR 47B or 87B delayed swell gasket, and the option of CONQOR B50 waterproofing admixture.
TYPE B barrier protection is described as ‘integral protection’. BASE-TECT® TYPE B includes CONQOR B50 sustainably sourced admixture, CONQOR 47B or 87B delayed swell gasket, and the option of spray-applied hydrogel treatment to the surface. BASE-TECT® TYPE B system is BRANZ appraised, when installed as designed.
BASE-TECT® TYPE A/B is a hybrid system that goes above and beyond, combining features of the other two systems. This approach gives an unparalleled level of risk reduction, and allows flexibility of design.
The advanced technologies used in our basement waterproofing can also be applied to roof decks and podium slabs.
By leveraging our expertise in structural waterproofing, our TOP-TECT® system provides reliable protection against water ingress for elevated concrete structures, delivering the same durable, long-lasting results as for below-grade structures.
CONQOR B50 is sourced from a byproduct of New Zealand’s geothermal industry. This advanced waterproofing admixture reduces shrinkage and permanently protects the concrete.
AQURON 300 is one of MARKHAM’s original hydrogel products – an advanced waterproofing admixture with multiple benefits for both the construction team and the asset owner.
AQURON 2000 advanced spray-applied hydrogel treatment provides waterproofing protection, penetrating deep into the concrete, protecting the steel reinforcing.
CONQOR 47B and 87B delayed swell gaskets provide durable protection, and resist premature swell during the construction phase.

Looking to handle concrete protection on your own? MARKHAM’s CONQOR SUPPLY range offers a selection of advanced, high-performance products designed to enhance concrete durability and sustainability.
MARKHAM offers a project-specific approach to structural waterproofing, starting from the design phase through to construction completion. Our multi-part systems, such as BASE-TECT and TOP-TECT, are adaptable for a range of applications, including basements, roof decks, and podium slabs, providing robust, long-lasting protection.
The BASE-TECT system is a multi-part solution specifically designed for basement waterproofing. It is designed specific to the needs of a given project and site. Elements may include bonded membranes, waterproofing admixtures, spray-applied treatments, and delayed-swell waterstop gaskets. BASE-TECT is adaptable for Type A, Type B and Combined waterproofing systems according to BS8102:2022 guidelines.
Yes, the TOP-TECT system is designed for roof decks and podium slabs, utilising similar advanced waterproofing technologies as our basement solutions. This system ensures elevated concrete structures are protected from water ingress, providing the same high level of durability and waterproofing as sub-grade structures.
Concrete deterioration is typically triggered by moisture-borne contaminants working within the concrete itself. MARKHAM’s waterproofing solutions therefore protect concrete from corrosion, water migration, and carbonation, reducing long-term repair expenses and extending the service life of the structure. Our treatments are designed to integrate with the concrete, offering sustainable protection from day one.
Absolutely. MARKHAM’s multi-part systems are versatile and can be customised to suit various project requirements, from residential basements to large commercial roof decks. Each system is tailored to the specific needs of the project, ensuring optimal performance and longevity in diverse structural waterproofing scenarios.
Yes, where appropriate MARKHAM has access to CSSW-qualified consultants.
For the full TECT system MARKHAM experience, a project-specific warranty will be offered. These performance warranties are typically a minimum of 15 years. For product supply only, where application is outside MARKHAM control, warranty is limited to replacement of product.
Yes. The hydrogel treatment creates fresh C-S-H inside the concrete – concreteʼs own building molecule. There is nothing foreign introduced. There is no residual coating. Therefore any coating or paint designed to be applied to bare concrete can safely be applied to hydrogel-treated concrete.
