The project team was tasked with waterproofing the basement raft slab of the Charlie Parker development without relying on a traditional membrane system. The underlying challenge was the rough and uneven surface beneath the slab, which posed a significant risk of damaging any conventional membrane. This required a more innovative and resilient solution to ensure effective waterproofing without compromising the integrity of the slab.
To overcome the challenges presented by the sharp rock surface, we implemented the BASE-TECT system, utilising a combination of CONQOR B50, CONQOR 47B, and AQURON 2000. This advanced solution allowed us to bypass the need for a traditional membrane, directly addressing the issues caused by the existing surface. By applying these specialised products, we not only mitigated potential complications but also streamlined the construction process, delivering a cost-effective and time-efficient solution that provided comprehensive waterproofing in a single application.
The final outcome was a fully waterproofed basement slab, achieved without the use of membranes or additional sealers. Our solution resulted in a durable, dry basement that met the project’s stringent requirements. This approach ensured long-term protection and structural integrity.
