Adding Life to Concrete – How MARKHAM applied the holistic hydrogel waterproofing system to the dive training pool at Dive HQ, Palmerston North NZ.

OBJECTIVE

The plunge training pool at Dive HQ is 12 meters in depth. The MARKHAM waterproofing system was applied as a superior alternative to conventional membranes, in this challenging project.

SOLUTION

MARKHAM was able to assist with a holistic three-part system. The concrete itself was made waterproof by means of AQURON 300 admixture and AQURON 2000 spray-applied treatment. The penetrations and joints were sealed with CONQOR 47B delayed swell waterstop gasket.

No tanking coating or membrane was used.

RESULTS

This project is an excellent example of flipping the MARKHAM waterproofing system from keeping water out (as for a basement) to keeping water in.

The system can be used for a variety of concrete water storage scenarios.

This was a win for the construction team and for the asset owners.
