The Whitianga Wharf

Location:

Whitianga, Waikato NZ

Country:

New Zealand

Project Type:

Civil / Infrastructure | Marine

Project Scale:

0 – 5,000 m²

The MARKHAM team treated the Whitianga Wharf for Thames-Coromandel District Council. This was done with our AQURON colloidal silica hydrogel concrete durability, corrosion resistance and waterproofing treatment, part of the CIVIL-TECT system used as a preventative measure in this case.

The inspection was also carried out by MARKHAM, and found that minor signs of deterioration had started to show. The client wanted to protect against these getting any worse, and stop any future attack.

These works were in Phase 2 of de Sitter’s Law-of-Fives.

Phase 1: Proactive protection, preferably during construction.
Phase 2: Minor deterioration manifested, requiring preventative maintenance.
Phase 3: Repairs needed for major damage.
Phase 4: Replacement of structure.
