Background to Rāwhiti School
“
The history of Rāwhiti School is tied to the recovery of Christchurch after the 2011 earthquakes, which severely impacted the eastern suburbs. The decision to merge three existing schools into one modern campus was part of a broader initiative by the Ministry of Education to rebuild and enhance the city’s educational infrastructure.
Built on the site of the former North New Brighton School, the new Rāwhiti School campus was constructed with a $13.6 million investment. It opened its doors at the start of the 2016 school year, providing a state-of-the-art learning environment designed with safety and flexibility in mind, especially critical in an earthquake-prone region.

Significant Slab Size
A very significant concrete pour took place during the 2015 construction. A single slab of 3,700 m2 was placed in one pour.
MARKHAM involvement in the project
The MARKHAM team were pleased to provide concrete curing and sealing to the major pour along with other elements. Quality curing is critical for long-term concrete durability.
