Adding Life to Concrete – How MARKHAM applied hydrogel waterproofing systems to Bunded Chemical Delivery Areas at Williamsgate Water Treatment works in Cumbria, UK.
These bunded chemical delivery areas had previously been coated with a chemical resistant coating. Being an external location, having the concrete dry enough to allow a successful coating application was always going to be challenged and in circa 6 months to a year, the coatings had failed / delaminated across a significant proportion of the area.
MARKHAM were tasked with replacing the chemical resistance of the coating with a solution that would last. This needed to provide a level of chemical resistance to the concrete, provide a non-slip surface, enhance the durability and increase the lifespan of these delivery areas.
