Acid and Effluent Attack!

Are your concrete structures protected to reduce corrosion?

Of course, you care for your animals. What about the structures where they’re fed and housed?

Agricultural environments can be very demanding on concrete. And you certainly don’t want unnecessary maintenance expenses. Did you know that effluent and cleaning chemicals cause acid attacks on concrete? Contaminants, carried by moisture, seep into the concrete and set up a cycle of corrosion and deterioration.

This leads to the structure decaying prematurely. And we know what comes next – expensive maintenance or replacement costs!Markham saving the world one concrete structure at a time

Can this situation be prevented or arrested?

As with most concrete contaminant situations, the key lies in closing the concrete’s porosity matrix: seal the concrete internally.

MARKHAM offers a penetrating hydrogel treatment, which penetrates the concrete to a depth of up to 150mm, sealing the porosity, closing micro-cracks, and binding the free moisture into a permanent hydrogel. This hydrogel combines with moisture and calcium hydroxides in the concrete pores minimising the available hydroxides and removing the free moisture.

This hydrogel formed has proven to be robust against a range of chemical attack situations.

This offers excellent protection against further ingress of contaminants and arrests the deterioration cycle.
