Car park floor slabs – the challenge
Car park floor slabs are under constant challenge, from a combination of traffic wear, and incoming contaminants. Vehicle tyres not only tend to abrade the surface, but bring in reactants, carried by moisture, which penetrate into the concrete. This in turn can set up a cycle of early deterioration.
For this reason, the P2 car park structure at Royal North Shore Hospital in NSW, used hydrogel concrete treatment to seal the car park floors. Spray-applied hydrogel hardens and densifies the concrete, sealing the porosity against contamination.
This approach is a key part of our INFRA-TECT® system.
