This road bridge displayed signs of ASR (alkali-silica reactivity) which would lead to premature aging. AQURON treatments were applied in 2014 to close the micro-cracking and enhance the structures remaining service life.
The treatment immobilises all available moisture to 150mm deep, to halt contamination permanently and increase impermeability. This waterproofs the concrete effectively.
A 2017 assessment has shown no new crack development on the treated areas!
