A wharf deck at Port Alma, on Queensland’s Capricorn Coast, was treated with AQURON 7000. This was applied for chloride protection and concrete durability.
This treatment, a penetrating colloidal silica hydrogel, is part of the CIVIL-TECT system for concrete civil infrastructure protection. It increases the concrete impermeability by locking up moisture and preventing further moisture ingress. This prevents the entrance of contaminants such as chlorides, and arrests any corrosion in progress.
The treatment of the wharf involved pressure-washing the surface before application, to ensure the treatment had the best access to the concrete porosities in order to penetrate the concrete sufficiently.
