Involved in data centre construction?
Data centres run on servers. The servers are surrounded by concrete.
How do we reduce risk?
At the construction phase, MARKHAM can help keep construction schedules and program time on track, with efficient curing, moisture control, and non-combustible concrete sealing. MARKHAM helps you achieve consistent results across multiple sites.
For the long-term, MARKHAM concrete treatments give you anti-dusting, deep hardening, permanent durability and reduced maintenance.
Concrete dust is a persistent and underestimated risk in data centre environments. As carbonation progresses in untreated floor slabs, surface breakdown releases fine dust particles that obstruct server airflow, raise internal operating temperatures and threaten the reliability of sensitive electronics.
Specialist surface coatings can help, but only when applied under ideal conditions after full concrete curing. In real project environments, those conditions rarely align with tight construction schedules, as cabling and equipment are often introduced before the concrete is ready.
MARKHAM hydrogel treatments are applied directly to fresh concrete and react internally, providing permanent protection that is not schedule-dependent and never require re-application.
MARKHAM admixtures and spray-on treatments are safe to handle and safe for the environment: nil VOC, nil odour, water-based and non-toxic.
MARKHAM’s range of water-based colloidal silica spray-on treatments are safe, nil-VOC and nil-odour. Because the reaction is internal rather than surface-based, the protection lasts for the life of the concrete with no re-application required.
MARKHAM’s range of water-based colloidal silica spray-on treatments are safe, nil-VOC and nil-odour. Early application means protection is built in from the time of construction – no waiting for full cure before the programme can proceed.
High heat loads and the mechanical stresses of continuous server operation accelerate deterioration in untreated concrete. Long-term carbonation leads to surface breakdown, structural weakening and increased maintenance costs over the life of the facility.
MARKHAM hydrogel treatments permanently react within the concrete to block moisture pathways, prevent carbonation, and enhance density, reducing lifetime maintenance requirements from the time of construction.
MARKHAM holds EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations) for key elements in our project range.
MARKHAM’s range of water-based colloidal silica admixtures are safe, nil-VOC and nil-odour. They require low-volume doses, making logistics and storage more cost-effective for ready-mix and precast producers. Colloidal silica admixtures enhance the rheology of the mix, making it easier to place and finish.
Data centre facilities carry strict fire rating requirements. CONQOR PROTECT treated concrete has been independently tested and classified A1 / A1FL under BS EN 13501-1: 2018 – the highest possible reaction to fire classification. No flame retardants are present in the product.
Because the treatment reacts internally within the concrete rather than forming a surface coating, nothing additional needs to be accounted for in fire rating calculations.
