Eskdale School and Cyclone Gabrielle
Eskdale School is a full primary school situated in the Esk Valley, Hawkes Bay. The Esk Valley was one of the communities worst affected by Cyclone Gabrielle in February 2023, and the Eskdale School was partially flood-damaged.
Rebuilding
The school operated off-site for some weeks but students and staff were able to return in late March, a testimony to the resilience and support of the community.
Several new buildings had already been scheduled for the school since 2019, and these projects became a visible part of the school’s recovery.
The MARKHAM team was pleased to be involved, treating concrete floor slabs for cure, seal and moisture control under floor coverings.
